About Us

We are a UK based agency focused on the hospitality sector and online visibility.  Although we may be able to help overseas businesses we prefer to work with UK based clients.

We work with hotels, letting agents and, increasingly, owners of second homes.

We have been in the fortunate position of starting our own holiday let business* whilst running MyLocal and now we aim to help other owners to build more profitable businesses by becoming less dependent on agents.

Holiday Lets are a specialist category of “local business” because Google has strict criteria for what qualifies for a Google Business Profile.  Most holiday lets do not qualify because they are not staffed, unlike, for instance a hotel or bed and breakfast.

Google also has ambitions to become the dominant destination for people looking online for holiday accommodation and they have treated most establishments in this category differently to other local business categories.  As an example, there was a time when the ability to make “Google Posts” was unavailable to holiday let owners.

Google is constantly evolving and is currently offering “Google Vacation Rentals” to any holiday lets that do not qualify for a Google Business Profile.  However, it is not easy for owners of holiday properties to add them to Google Vacation Rentals without working with a Google Partner.

Most of the OTAs (online travel agents like Booking.com) are Google Partners and the path of least resistance for owners is to list their properties with one or more OTAs.  Airbnb is an OTA, as is VRBO, Expedia, TripAdvisor etc.  They spend a fortune on advertising and charge a relatively high commission rate to fund their promotional activities.

The problem with using OTAs is that they dominate the search results which makes it difficult for an owner to take direct bookings.  Direct bookings don’t involve commission and are therefore worth more to owners, making their holiday lets more lucrative.  Being able to let out your property without relying on 3rd parties like OTAs is the strongest position to be in.
